A new multi-billion pound property development in Central London is set to receive a state-of-the-art radio system designed by Roadphone NRB.
THE CHALLENGE
The construction project has been split into multiple phases, with each opening to the public in different phases. Therefore, the communication solution needed to be easily scalable, and expandable across all phases of the project. The radio solution also needed to be resilient, with business-critical levels of reliability to ensure uninterrupted communication. Additionally, being in the centre of London, frequency spectrum availability would be at a premium.
THE SOLUTION
Roadphone NRB deployed a Motorola Capacity Max trunked radio system, with our Endurance Technology® enhancements for increased resilience. This gives the radio system a state-of-the-art installation standard, which includes battery backup for mains failure, redundant active components including servers, switches, routers and repeaters, and alarm monitoring and management.
Roadphone NRB’s experienced technical designers recommended a radiating cable (leaky feeder) system to be installed. This cable was installed by our engineers, and ensures even coverage across all areas of the building. Moreover, using radiating cable means that the signal does not radiate too far from the building’s perimeter, which makes obtaining licenced RF spectrum easier in a congested city like London.
THE SUMMARY
The radio system has provided the development with excellent coverage throughout the building, and the use of Motorola Capacity Max trunked technology provides the development with advanced radio system features, utilising leading handportables from Motorola Solutions. The antenna system can be easily expanded into future phases of the project, providing a unified communication system which will support the site for many years to come.
